Having discarded sharpies I started thinking about a scow or 'schouw' (Dutch).
For a given length, scows provide the highest capacity.
Essentially they are floating containers with a sail.
On a reach, they can be very fast.
Ugly as they are, I am attracted to the PD Racers worth a second look.
Or Michael Storer's bigger and faster version, the OZ Goose.
These boats are very easy to build.
As there is a lot of experimentation going on, you don't have to start from scratch.
Many ideas have already been tried by others.
Finally there is the 16x4 Triloboat, which is built out of straight plywood panels.
The big question is: is a scow suitable for dinghy cruising?
Apart from slamming upwind, I imagine they are very tiring to sail on bigger waves.
Their very shape may make it very hard to right a capsized scow in waves.
I will continue my search.
